Games like Weaver

Updated November 4, 2026

Weaver turns the old word ladder into a daily habit: one start word, one end word, and you change a letter at a time. If you've done today's and want more of that feeling, these are the free daily games that come closest.

We make Sprout, the first one on the list, so we're biased about it. The rest are here because they're good.

Sprout: the seed word AM growing into MARCH, one leaf-shaped letter tile at a time
1 · Our pick, and our game

Sprout

Start with a two-letter seed and grow it into the day's word. Each turn you can swap two letters, add one new letter anywhere, or both, and every step has to be a real word. Do it in the fewest turns possible and you grow a sunflower; a turn or two more grows a tulip or a daisy. Somewhere on the day's routes a golden seed word is hidden, and every finish gets planted in your monthly garden.

Questions

What is Weaver?

Weaver is a free daily word ladder game: get from one four-letter word to another by changing one letter at a time, with every step a real word.

Is there a game like Weaver with longer words?

Yes. Sprout starts from a two-letter seed and grows it into a five- to seven-letter word, and Wordiply has you build the longest word you can around a short starter word.

What makes Sprout different from Weaver?

Weaver changes one letter per step and the word length never changes. Sprout lets you swap two letters and add one per turn, so the word grows, and the fewest-turn finish grows a sunflower.
